Second Announcement

Seeing the updated front page, got me thinking that we might be due another announcement.

It's exactly one year to the day that Bill Callahan was announced in the second round of 2014 announcements.

Come on Walter, what news on more news?

I had a brief chat with the drummer from HGM after their Leeds gig at the Brudenell. So I asked him if he was going to GM or EOTR and he said he thought that they were going to Green Man! He wasn't 100% but...

Elizabeth,

Nathan Salzburg is very good, he is also curator of the Alan Lomax Archive.  Saw him both play and then talk through his work alongside various video pieces.  If you get the chance to see him, make the effort.

either way, yes please Walter, Nathan Salzburg would be great at GM in either capacity

Thanks for those links Jon, William Tyler reckons he takes solo guitar to the next level....which,coming from him, is really saying something.

I saw him as he was touring "Hard for to win and can't be won" - there is something very special here, can't find it, but try checking out his version of Coll Mackensie... a real go to track

I almost suggested them myself....  Just listening to some Nathan Salsburg and Nathan Bowles.  I'd love to see a night of Black Twig Pickers, Steve Gunn, HGM, Steve Tyler, Jake Xerxes Fussell, nathan Salzburg.  I think they all know each other and play for each other in various guises and it would make a great night in the Walled Garden

Some interesting tweets going on, an announcement on SFA imminent?

Just spotted those SFA-related tweets too, Smithers. C'com Walter, put us out of our misery.

i think it's a foregone conclusion, isn't it?

considering that they're tweeting lyrics

or is this just another belle and sebastian situation...?

Exciting times, confirmation of SFA hopefully - but what other delights await...?

Makes getting up early tomorrow to drive to Milton Keynes a little more bearable.

Fair dues, line-up is looking pretty strong this year to say the least. Plenty there for any regulars I'd say. Television playing Marquee Moon on the Mountain Stage has all the makings of a classic moment. Just need the weather and moon to play along

Oh and .......

goes without saying probably top of my list ... Sturgill Simpson

Very happy with that- Television, Slowdive, Peter Broderick..... Especially the latter.

Excellent!

Particularly pleased about Super Furries, Temples, H Hawkline and Slowdive.

Still no Colorama though. C'mon Green fella - it's high time they played.

Also, if we can have Super Furries then howsabout an appearance from Gulp?

But I'm well pleased with the line-up so far. Haven't felt this excited about a forthcoming Green Man since 2009.

Job's a good 'un.

It's very much a classic Green Man lineup isn't it! One thing struck me from the lineup poster - do we think Chai Wallahs are not turning up this year, or has this not been announced yet? It looks as though they are advertising ten stages, CW not being one of them.

I've seen mention of CW, so all good there.

Can't believe how good this is looking.  First festival was 2012.... amazing line-up that I thought would be difficult to beat.  2013 did just that.  Couldn't get better.... I think it just has, already starting to worry about clashes.

As someone who can't easily get out of Devon, this is my one weekend a year, just realised I've got 23 acts on the Must See list already.....

Some cracking additions there! Looking forward to seeing Pictish and Sweet Babs together again. Television? Wow!

i know some find Leisure Socity a little tame but I love 'em.

And I can thoroughly reccommend the Drink - one of my favourite albums of last year.

But no HGM yet. Please!!!!

Also, and cyfarthfa will back me up here - we need some version of the great Man band with maybe the great Deke Leonard in the lit tent.

SFA, Temples, Television and Public Service Broadcasting....yay!

Three very happy people in our house this evening - had to go and check that I had actually ordered our early birdy tickets (I had) !!

Only Strands of Oak and Television added to my "must see" list there.

A few unfamiliar names to check out.

Remembering through a Growler-induced haze that blackcatista is a man of impeccable taste I will begin with the young Broderick fellow...

We put off getting tickets until the second announcement but today's brilliant additions has sealed the deal, I'm already dreading clashes though.

This is fantastic. In previous years it's been difficult to muster enthusiasm for even one of the headliners, but I'm excited about all three this year.

And Television! - A performance of Marquee Moon in full is the sort of thing that GM is for. There'll be no clashes for this one, anything else will be disposable at that point in time.

Shaping up to be a brilliant festival overall.

And I'll be wanting a word with anyone I hear dissing the Leisure Society Krasnyi!

I wonder if Television will be the Thursday headliner.

Leisure society were excellent at Cloudspotting last year but the keyboard player was one of the most unpleasant musicians i've come across.

Only available on i player I believe.

On another matter - anyone else notice there's been no moaning about the line-up yet. Surely a Green Man first?

I think i already have far more must-sees on my list than I had in August last year and last year was pretty damn good.

Still holding out for: Hiss Golden Messenger (sunny late afternoon on the main stage), Vetiver (new album out soon), Black Twig Pickers or something similar, some cajun music, Trembling Bells and Mike Heron, wee Jamie Yorkston (obviously), King Creosote (so he and Johnny Pictish can kiss and make up and beacuse Kenny is fab) and Euros 'cos we haven't seen him at GM for ages. Not asking for much Wally ol' pal.

Clashes are going to be a nightmare this year. Perhaps we can we just moan about that instead? Well that and the weather of course. Overdue some truly atrocious weather surely?

There are only a couple of must-see's for me up to now, compared to last year when I was utterly spoilt for choice and had to resort to undignified tipsy sprinting between stages.

What I've learned from past years is that there will always be some great prevously undiscovered music that I start to obsess about in the run up..... any suggestions welcomed.

Seconded Krasnyi, JY and HGM please Walter x
