I'm never sure who to put on my Green Man wishlist. It's always to unpredictable.
I reckon A.C. Newman, Blitzen Trapper, Mae Shi, Pains of Being Mure At Heart and Yeasayer would go down fabulously though. Yeasayer have rocketed recently though.
How about Bibio..nice album out at the mo..I would melt to Beach House again too!..Wye Oak, Michachu, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros (the new Arcade Fire?) or the wonderful extraordinary Danielson family ? they would make my weekend.
Good shout on Jesca Hoop and Local Natives!! Krasnyi, sublime stuff
The Books. No question. They have a new album out this year. Would be perfect for the Far Out Tent. Getting them would be such a scoop. I know people who would buy a ticket just for their appearence -- me included.
Also Caribou, his new album is wonderful. It was recorded in Wales too, so it would only be fitting for him to showcase it in the heart of the Brecon mountains. Four Tet is so good that I would invite him back. Bibio would also slot in nicely. He used to go on holiday in Wales all the time as a kid; I'm sure he wants to return! Jamie Lidell, is a very vibrant performer, who I imagine would be very fun to see live. He also has a new album out soon. Another Warp act that I would love to see is Battles. Since this is a wishlist, I would hope for The National, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem and Broken Social Scene but I unfortunately don't see that happening. I would reel in Sam Amidon, who would provide some beautiful folk songs. To add some sadness to that beauty would be The Antlers.
Yes to Caribou - he/they were jaw-droppingly brilliant the year before last. Have only heard one track off the new album - sounds quite different from the Andorra stuff, less psychedelic - and will have to check it out.
Oh, Sam Amidon is coming. There's one wish that has come true. Just need an extra few from my original post and I'll be smiling. Here's some more.
I'm not sure it would get anymore perfect seeing Explosions in the Sky tear up the Welsh scenery. Liars would add some twist with their chaotic music formula. Sun Kil Moon, the vehicle for Mark Kozelek's beautiful songwriting is releasing a new album in July. Hopefully a tour will commence. Continuing on the folky spectrum I would love to see Horse Feathers. If we want to make the festival a beer-filled party then The Hold Steady would slot in perfectly. We need more electronic music! I would add The Field in here, with his hypnotic, sample-driven music. The same could be said of Pantha Du Prince who collaborates with Noah Lennox of Animal Collective on his latest album. Dan Deacon would serve up a very interesting live performance. Gold Panda is fun upcoming electronic act who has recently shared a stage with Four Tet. Ulrich Schnauss would provide a perfect soundscape for summer with his roaring shoegaze infused music. Another interesting take on shoegaze would come from A Sunny Day in Glasgow, who put out one of the best albums of 2009. Yo La Tengo are faultless and are in the UK at the start of September. Touring at the same time are Wolf Parade whose new album should be an exercise in relentless rock and roll. Speaking of rock, Spoon would be a fun addition proving that they aren't just a useful kitchen utensil. Has there ever been hip-hop at Green Man? If there hasn't, you couldn't find a better starting point than Edan who draws influnces from 60's psychadelia.
The Hold Steady headlining the second stage would make my year. There isn't a band I love more but I'm unsure whether they'd fit in with the Green Man feel? But I guess there's always a few exceptions every year... one can dream.
