Filling the void

OK so I can't compete with you London types but a quick skim tells me the fllowing are playing this autumn at Birmingham's finest venue, the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath, less than 5 minutes from my house: Keston Cobblers Club, RM Hubbert, Tunng, Lanterns on the Lake, Euros Childs, Sweet Baboo and Dutch Uncles. A short trip into town and at the Institute there's Everything Everything, Steve Mason, Public Service Broadcasting, Half Moon Run and Stornoway. And no clashes.

About half way down on the right, near the big radiator. Maybe, I’ll get Matt who introduces the bands to do a shout out next time you’re there.

I was the opposite side just in front of Matt.  My moment of fame (or infamy) is that I was sat next to the two reserved but empty seats.  This meant that in the second half I was sat next to the mixing desk! Controlled by a laptop on stage and an app on an iPad.  Just goes to show how music technology has moved on in recent years.

Bit of a buying spree today---Babybird,Ist Ist and The Lucid Dream in Manchester and Idles in a small club in Blackpool.Thinking of Focus Wales and Sounds from the other city festivals. Was going to Sea Change but EOTR is such a strong first announcement might after return there instead after a couple of years away.

Spent hours looking through the internet and YouTube to try an find the Brother Brothers performing ‘I will always love you’.  only had to go to their web site to find it http://www.thebrotherbrothersmusic.com/#intro.

watch and listen and then try to say that was not one of the most beautiful songs you have ever heard.

i am sure they will be welcome any time to come to Green Man

That's a shame, hope the record still gets released eventually.

Good timing with the post,i have just gone on line to book hotels for future gigs.

glad i could save you the expense!

review copies of the new record have already gone out

so it'll be showing up in the ether imminently, i suspect

but a great shame

gospelbeach are announcing tour details next week

and just confirmed on FB that it includes the UK

bring them back to GM!

(please)

Would love to see the again too Ray. Was a pretty joyous performance last year. If it happens, would like to see the addition of a pedal steel guitar as seen on selected dates. Fingers crossed.

doesn't it, though?

he looks a bit wrecked in the accompanying photos

hope his ticker's doing all right

He's brilliant live but in the past I've found his recorded work a bit over-produced and sanitized with all the dirty edges smoothed out.

Is that right?  Excellent.  All together now....the Cathedral in Cologne looks like a spaceship.  What I'd give for Brett and Rennie at the Walled Garden at GM.

They are very entertaining live, lots of banter/humour.Gutted that Anna Von Hausswolff has only announced one uk and in London--hope she gets added to one of the festivals.

Got to see my first gig in my new Shropshire stamping ground last night - Jim Gedhi and Toby Hay playing at a B&B in Bishops Castle. Toby said he'd be playing in Jim's band at Green Man and probably also doing his own set too. Two for your list, Slugger?

We camped just outside Bishops Castle last Easter Krasnyi, lovely town and beautiful countryside, made me want to explore Shropshire some more.

Sorry for the thread drift....

Bishops Castle is fab isn't it? Lots of old hippies and artists moved out to the area in the 70s (Ronnie Lane lived up the road at Hyssington - his wife still does) and it still has a nice alternative vibe like many of the border towns.

Where did you camp - Foxholes?

Yep, nice campsite, added bonus of there not being many people there despite it being Easter, probably because it was bloody freezing. Enjoyed Church Stretton, Stiperstones and Long Mynd too. The drive over the Long Mynd into Carding Mill valley felt almost alpine. Lovely part of the country to live in I imagine.

Touring in October including a local one, missed them when they played GM.

Enjoyed them at Green Man but thought they were much better when we have seen them at indoor venues. Was recommended a band called Wussy, who are touring in May,from a friend last night--never heard of them before even though they have been around for a long time--played their latest album Forever Sounds and wow totally blown me away,a bit of VU mixed with Sparklehorse.Tickets purchased.

I got listening to Wussy having seen a colleague's glowing review of their Cardiff gig on Twitter last time they toured over here, and was all the more gutted I'd missed them. Very pleased to see they are returning to Cardiff in May.

Secured tickets today for a new Irish festival "All Together Now" in Co. Waterford. Will serve nicely as a Green Man warm up and I'd imagine there may be some crossover. Fleet Foxes already confirmed along with Underworld, First Aid Kit, Jape, This is the Kit and Ghostpoet.

Hi all,

I am currently undertaking a Masters in Business Strategic Management and in order to complete this qualification, I am writing a dissertation with the title of:

The collection and use of data in music industry marketing for the European audience: a comparative study between the UK and Germany.

In order to assist me with this, I am hoping you are able to spend a couple of minutes completing the questionnaire below and would be really grateful for your time and opinion in order to help me with my studies.

I must stress that your participation in these groups and your contributions will remain entirely anonymous and the data I collect will be only used for the purposes of my dissertation.

Many thanks for your time.

Kind regards
Paul

anyone else sell a child to get stones tickets this morning?

ouch

still, totally worth it

wasn't even my child

And there me was thinking I had a reasonable deal only having to sell the one kidney in exchange for a ticket. Figured this really will be the last time.
