good to see a shout for dark dark dark but mine are
Josh T - say what you like about self pitying indulgance but this is top for me and a record that got little recognition is now regularly featuring in 'top' lists and time will only strengthen that.
Low Anthem - quality stuff, and a big step up from Charlie Darwin. i thought they did one of the best sets at GM this year as well
Bonnie Prince Billy - Wolfroy Goes To Town is already one of my favs from BPB and given his back catalogue and consistency, thats saying something. roll on January when I see him twice
King Creosote and Jon Hopkins - simply beautiful
Tom Waits - as with BPB, Tom keeps producing the goods
not included in my 5 but my guilty pleasure this winter is Kate Bush. oh, and Polly Jean's my girl (have almost everything shes released) but not sure I agree with the furore. If Let England Shake and Stories got her 2 Mercurys then frankly she should have about 10. sometimes momentum just leads to lazy journalism
According to the CD, Admiral Fallow's Boot Met My Face came out in 2011, so for me they score 5 out of 5 as the best album of 2011 by a mile. They were fantastic live too at GM. Could we ask them to come again please!!!
