OK so I can't compete with you London types but a quick skim tells me the fllowing are playing this autumn at Birmingham's finest venue, the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath, less than 5 minutes from my house: Keston Cobblers Club, RM Hubbert, Tunng, Lanterns on the Lake, Euros Childs, Sweet Baboo and Dutch Uncles. A short trip into town and at the Institute there's Everything Everything, Steve Mason, Public Service Broadcasting, Half Moon Run and Stornoway. And no clashes.

Great stuff, let me know what you think
amazing
amazing
4 nights at the roundhouse - and a completely different set each night
bob nastanovich on particulalrly entertaining form, i thought
a very odd juxtaposition to dylan the night before
both brilliant
but in very different ways!

Yes, that's was one of the things that most impressed me in Manchester, the set list, they have obviously been rehearsing more and getting along better in comparison to their last 'come back' shows.
Who supported them? (it was The Lovely Eggs in Manchester)
I'm still hopeful of picking up Dylan tickets for Manchester on Twickets.
different support each night
different support each night
can't remember who it was the night i went - i didn't get there in time to see them
i know it wasn't the unfathomably popular richard dawson who did the night before
and yes - they seemed to be getting on extremely well
it was also sunday malkmus's 15th birthday - and she and all her friends were in the bar that overlooks the stage - having an altogether grand time
don't suppose staring at my dad being worshipped by a bunch of fanboys would have been my idea of a good 15th birthday
but then my dad wasn't slacker rock royalty
(definitely still think i got the better deal - but hey)
oh wait, i remember - it was
oh wait, i remember - it was los bitchos
who are perfectly ok - but all a bit khruangbin for me
pleasant enough - but where's the singer?
Managed to see Los Bitchos on
Managed to see Los Bitchos on Saturday in Cardif and think they are excellent. They do sing (or maybe shout) a bit which adds to the music and they did shout out th3 words to their new Christmas single 'Los Christmas'.
'Christmas time is sexy time, Christmas time is sexy time'.
sadly, borderline becoming the new Cheeky Girls with 'have a cheeky Christmas'. Do not think Ray will be Putting the single on his Christmas wish list for Santa.
generally, at christmas time,
generally, at christmas time, i am way too full to feel tremendously in the mood for sexy time
so they seem to me to be quite wrong about this
also, doing christmas songs in october is unforgiveable

Llais Festival for me this
Llais Festival for me this weekend in Cardiff. John Cale and friends on good form last night, but I thought he's suddenly looking his age and a little frail. Midlake tonight, and Keeley Forsyth tomorrow. I missed her set in The Walled Garden this year. I've booked tickets for Lankum at The Barbican in May too. Hoping they'll be at Green Man next year too.

I didn't see them on the current tour, but I've seen them twice this year and really enjoyed it.

John Cale this Thursday
John Cale this Thursday postponed for the third time, until February.
Saw Bill Callahan in
Saw Bill Callahan in Manchester last weekend... he was on brilliant form.
Played a lot of tracks from his new album, which is fine because it's ace and a few older tracks.
He dedicated Riding for the Feeling to Mimi Parker.

Probably a little
Probably a little unfashionable on here, but PD Heaton and Jacqui Abbott were on fine form on Monday at The Beautiful Winter Gardens, supported admirably by Billy Bragg.

Saw Goat in Berlin a couple of weeks back - probably the best gig I've ever been to. Big talk I know, but still...mindblowing.

Saw the wonderful Waxahatchee(solo) in the equally wonderful New Century Hall in Manchester, has anyone on here been to this venue?

Yes, I was there on Friday, and saw Whitney in there back in February.
A great addition to Manchester gig venues. The food court bit there is great too.

I saw Daniel Johnston and friends at New Century Hall in 2008, featuring the great man himself, Mark Linkous,James McNew, Norman Blake and Scout Niblett.
It was a fittingly superb venue for an extraordinary evening.

Quite tempted to take a trip
Quite tempted to take a trip to London to see Rufus Wainwright performing Want 1 & 2 at The Proms, and Siouxsie the following day at The Troxy, but the cost of doing so is eye-wateringly expensive. Somewhat more affordable I've nabbed tickets to see Ezra Furman in Cardiff end of August, and as luck would have it she's playing Lisbon while we're there in June, so got tickets for that too.

Also bagged tickets to see Ezra in August, a very small venue for her, should be great
