A chum of mine is doing a piece for the local rag and posed this question. What are the best acts you've seen at Green Man Festival over the years? Suggestions please for the 15 best over 15 years! Though we've only had 14 to date, what would be in there for you lot? I'm taking it as read Bonnie Prince Billy will be a fairly unanimous choice, though sadly I missed that year. I'd throw in Patti Smith and Atomic Bomb William Onyeabor for a start.
Only been coming since 2010

Interesting piece by Jo
Interesting piece by Jo Bartlett on the very first Green Man. Sadly my first wasn't to be until 2011, even tough I'd previously won a pair of tickets for one of the Baskerville Hall festivals two or three years earlier without really taking note of the fact I had to work that Saturday.

2009 - My first Green Man and
2009 - My first Green Man and probably favourite. So many highlights from this year. Andrew Bird, Dirty Three, The Aliens, Roky Erickson, Mary Hampton, Beach House. I'm just listing the lineup! Dirty Three probably shading it just because of time of day, the people we met and shared it with and overall memory Warren and co left me with.
2010 - Doves. Kidding. Fuck Buttons probably. The Wave Pictures and The Tallest Man on Earth running them close.
2011 - The Low Anthem. Although Josh T Pearson is up there (so looking forward to Lift To Experience this year). Another really, really good year with so many memories when I look down the lineup. Even Laura Marling and James Blake surprised me with how enjoyable they were.
2012 - Damien Jurado stands outs it in what was all a bit meh this year TBH.
2013 - Patti Smith. Easy. It was always going to be difficult for anyone to surpass the marker she laid down on Thursday night. And nobody did.
2014 - Sun Kil Moon. Love him or loathe him, Mark Kozelek puts on a show. Early evening Bill Callahan was wonderful too.
Two years of EofTR after that but can't wait to get back to Glanusk this week!
From 8 of the last 10 years.
From 8 of the last 10 years. the ones that jump out at me as particularly memorable, in no particular order:
Wilco
Moon Duo
Hookworms
King Creosote and John Hopkins
Dirty Three
James Yorkston (which year was it that he played the Mountain Stage with a massive band- around the time of When the Haar Rolls in- 2009ish?)
Ryley Walker
Steve Mason
Richard Dawson
Sun Kil Moon
Efterklang
SFAs last time.
And I'm inclined to agree with lavaman on the National- I wasn't into them at the time and haven't been massively into them since, but there was just something about that performance that was masterful.

Add me to the list of...
How good was The Atomic Bomb Band.
As mentioned above those couple of hours of Atomic Bomb and then Hot Chip were unexpectedly good and left me with a massive smile for the rest of the weekend.
Also stumbling across Ghost Box records at Green Man is something I will always be grateful for. It created a whole new obsession.
