2014 suggestions

few ideas for 2014:

Crystal Castles, Health- check the Die Slow track, The Orb, Gavin Friday, Cathal Coughlan (former lead singer of the fatima mansions), public service broadcast- ON A BIGGER STAGE, ..oh the list could go on

I dunno I'd more or less class all that as folk/folk rock or minor variances on those so I'd say they were all similar-ish (This years stuff anyway). Then again I never know properly how to catagorise music.

Thanks for those suggestions. I've heard a little bit of Van Etten and Olsen. I'll investigate further. Cheers.

Yeah War on Drugs didn't strike me as great either but I'm going to give them a proper listen too.

"i guarantee we'll have more fun, drink till the moon becomes the sun,and in the taxi home i'll sing you a Triffids song"

One of my lps/eps of the year and would be a most welcome addition.

agree with wakestock, just back from agnes obel in manchester. She would fit in very well at GM. Knack'd now but feeling very contented. Have a good weekend everyone, whatever you're up to.

What about Beck Goldsmith - Hollows for Sorrows is a lush album and she has a new one out soon I think

Michael Taylor is very special, mentioned him previously. Haw was my album of 2013, up there with Dream River and Muchacho.

As an extra bonus, if he can't keep the band together for Green Man, he plays very well with William Tyler or by himself.

Got a retweet from him too when I suggested he come to Green Man a couple months back.

Come on, make it happen.

That's great Carnie, can you recommend any other tracks or albums by HGM I should check out?
I am really discovering some wonderful new music this year.

You can't really go wrong with HGM, but as suggested HAW is a really good album Elizabeth, no duds on there, the track I posted is from Haw.

After listening to just a couple of tracks, Hiss Golden Messenger 1. are excellent 2. are clearly SOOO Green Man 3. need to be announced for GM 2014.

Jesus Shot Me In The Head...marvellous

As eotr have the Gene Clark No other Band, how about GM has the Jason Molina Ohia tribute with magnolia electric co. and m.c. taylor (hiss golden messenger)

Realising that I am, almost certainly, far too late with this, a call for fabbo Scottish instrumentalists Remember Remember to be asked to join us in August. They were flippin' brilliant when they played GM2012 (presumably on the back of Mogwai's appearance, since they are signed to the 'Gwai's Rock Action label), one of my highlights of that weekend. And they have a new LP coming out, the first song released from which is linked below:
