Is it too soon to start thinking about 2014 yet?

Totally agree with all the positive comments elsewhere; points they've taken on board and improvements made have really made a difference, and overall the line-up was great. So who would we like to see next year, and is there anything that might make the best festival going even better?

For what it's worth I'D like to throw PJ Harvey, Beck, Tame Impala, Goat, Ty Segall, White Fence, White Denim and Hookworms into the wish list hat. Oh, and Monochrome Set, Suicide and Devo in the heritage slots.

The expanded selection of ales and ciders in the Courtyard Bar was fantastic, butalas stocks ran out it was more difficult to work out what was available, which slowed things down and made the queues a little bigger. toast printed tasting notes were really useful, but would it be possible to list the relevant numbers alongside the entries?

To my great shame I stuck to No.23 (Rum Tiddly Um) but that bugger blackpumpkinhead (and one or two others I suspect) were guzzling it too. Get some more in next year chaps. An online version of the tasting guide that we could download/print would be a good idea.

As per seperate thread a direct walking route from the general box office area to the Babbling Tongues end of the site would be hugely popular.

Haven't really tought about acts. Off the top -

Get Phosphorescent back in a headline slot. That 45 minutes felt like 15!

After seven years it's probably pointless asking for Paul Brady again. They've either asked him and he's declined or they don't want him.

In the legend slot - Jimmy Cliff

Maud in Cahoots

Maria Doyle Kennedy

The Lash (the Newport ones)

Someone mentioned Marillion - I suspect it's very unlikely but it would make me rather happy

My daugter would like Dizzee Rascal - "LOL" (although it would also make me happy)

I'd like Steve Mason and Ghostpoet back.

Oh, and can we please have Paul Brady :)

Sorry about that Peridot but hopefully they have the Steve Hughes ciders back next year especially the Wicked Wasp and i will leave the Rum Tiddly Um alone.

totally agree with Phosphorescent to come back, that was actually a mear 35 mins due to technicals giving a late start.

Would love to see PJ Harvey headline in 2014.

Sharon Van Etten would also be perfect. Is it too soon to invite The National back?

Cian Ciaran would be great in the Far Out tent too.

Wish List for 2014

Ryan Adams please. Ray Lamontagne. Oh and Phosphorescence back again, much longer set and much later please.

I'd like to see Crazy World of Arthur Brown. I second the Mountain Goats. Other than that I trust GM to make the rigot decisions and introduce me to some great music.

Bill Callahan please...also, Phosphorescent, Mount Eerie, Sufjan Stevens, King Creosote, Pictish Trail, Lambchop, Damien Jurado, Joe Pug, Nick Cave and Neil Young (ha!)

It will be hard to top this year though.

The Avett Brothers, Allison Moorer, Roger McGuinn, The Punch Brothers, The Burns Unit, Guy Clark, Patti Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Richard Thompson, Laura Marling or Joni Mitchell (if available), Tony Rice, Karine Polwart, Dweezil Zappa (Far Out Tent), The Tallest Man on Earth, The Staves (Walled Garden) and Mike Oldfield playing Tubular Bells on the Mountain Stage!

Marillion for the Thursday night Far Out Tent would be outstanding! as for the rest well lets go for Sigur Ros, Amanda Palmer, Neil Young, Norah Jones & Eels as potential main stage headliners plus lets have some Black Keys, Dandy Warhols, Ben Folds, Avett Brothers, Smoke Fairies, Tame Impala, Wolf People, Megafaun, Grizzly Bear, Boards of Canada, Howlin' Rain, and something a bit different Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Humble Grumble, lets also put Alabama3 in the mix as well! Ultimately with such an intimate setting i'd love to see Elbow there.....I can only dream that would happen

Is requesting Springsteen or Neil Young a bit ambitious?! Well, no harm in asking so they'll be my top two! Also Trampled by Turtles,  The Avett Brothers, Mercury Rev, Teenage Fanclub, Roddy Frame, Evan Dando, David Ford, Neil Halstead/Mojave 3 (Slowdive reunion would be even better!), Martin Rossiter, Old Crow Medicine Show, THe Hives, ballboy, Jesus & Mary Chain, John Grant.

I don't know how the line-up could be bettered either, but I got a rather good Pond CD in the Rough Trade tent, so they'd be good to see.  Julian Cope singing this time, can never have enough of him.  BTW I'd like to congratulate Julian for managing to open that bottle of fizzy drink with his gauntlets on (you had to be there...).  Neil Young would be great, and with Ian McNabb, but can't see it happening.

I'd like to see Poolside in the far out along with the return of Beak> who were outstanding, plus phosphorescent in a later slot on the mountain stage.

Can I also add a shout for Richard Thompson - would love to see him there again.

And Laura Marling must be due back too, not that it would please everyone.

would love to see the following at Green Man 2014:

Bright Eyes

Frightened Rabbit

Two Gallants

Admiral Fallow

Ruarri Joseph

Dan Mangan

Damien Jurado

Deer Tick

Fionn Regan

Jeniferever

Jim Lockey & The Solumn Sun

Rae Morris

Kurt Vile

The Ruen Brothers

Tallest Man On Earth

The Walkmen

A couple of bands I would like to see at Green Man are Amber States and Tankus the Henge.  Bear's Den deserve a bigger stage next year too.  Personal opinion natch.

Bill Callahan, new album out soon, should be around and very special.

Love to see Phosphorescent again (can't make the November shows)

Neil Young would be amazing, is that really possible?

But to persuade the missus to come back, would need Calexico, Django Django, Hot Chip, Grimes, Washed Out - one or two of which would gain me permission to come back next year.

Four Tet

PJ Harvey

Bellowhead

Teenage Fanclub

Steve Mason again

St Vincent & David Byrne (together or seperately)

My wishlist is:

  • Teleman
  • Kid Canaveral
  • Flipron
  • Django Django - and any other Beta Band collective
  • Aiden Moffat
  • Race Horses
  • Suzanne Vega
  • Magnetic Fields - he'd not regret this exception to his no festies rule.
  • Any of Gorkys and any of Super Furries
  • Richard Thompson (second)
  • PJ Harvey (second)
  • Bellowhead (second)

Sadly, Race Horses are no more but hopefully Meilyr (spelling?) might have some new project. We must have Euros next year!

Oh no - Race Horses were such a fun band.  Thanks for letting me know, I shall look out for Meilyr's next project.

Just got home from Leonard Cohen's sublime Cardiff show. How great would he be as a headliner for Green Man 14? With PJ Harvey already on my wish list, the top end is shaping up nicely. Perhaps throw Deerhunter in too for good measure?

shooglenifty would be very lovely thanks !!

Id so love to see Other Lives play Green Man in 2014. And Band of Horses as an every year highlight please!!!

I saw Lanterns On The Lake at Swn Festival last weekend. Would fit in nicely at Greenman.

Nadine Shah too please.

PJ Harvey is the act I'd most like to see headline next year.

I'll second that - Lanterns on the Lake, and PJ Harvey in one of the headline slots. Be a good time to get Beck too. New album out next February, first for quite some time, is being billed as a companion of sorts to Sea Change. Perfect for Green Man
